The Rotterdam Rules: Contemporary, Certain, Inclusive AND Efficient or Just Another One for the Shelves?

In 2012 Dr. Nikaki and Prof. Soyer published a comprehensive article in which they have reviewed the Rotterdam Rules in detail, taking into account current shipping practices and the nature of international trade as well as economic and legal considerations.

The article takes the stance that although some of the objectives identified in the Preamble have been realized to an extent, it will be doubtful whether this will be deemed adequate to convince the majority of the international community.
